Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) — For service providers primarily involved in analysis of a consumer's needs and training in use of a particular device.

Assistive Technology Supplier (ATS) — For service providers involved in the sale and service of commercially available devices.

RESNA is the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, an  interdisciplinary association of people with a common interest in technology and disability.  The credentialing program for Assistive Technology Service Providers promotes an entry level of expertise in the field of assistive technology. It further provides a standard for recognizing qualifications and validating broad based knowledge to enhance service provision to people with disabilities seeking technology applications to maximize their function. Earning a RESNA credential signifies the knowledge to provide safe and effective service to persons with a disability.

NRRTS is The National Registry of Rehab Technology Suppliers and is  dedicated to ensuring the provision of high quality Re/habilitation Technology and related services to people with disabilities. All members of NRRTS meet specific professional membership requirements and agree to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. An RTS has the experience and knowledge to find the most appropriate enabling technology for people with disabilities. These professionals know the range of products on the market in their Re/habilitation Technology specialty. Only certified members of NRRTS can carry the credential of CRTS™. A Certified Rehabilitation Technology Supplier™ is a NRRTS member in good standing who has passed the ATS (Assistive Technology Supplier) credentialing examination administered by RESNA.

MED CRC

The MED Group operates the MED Certified Repair Center Training which is the most comprehensive technician training program in the industry. Through a series of graduated levels of training and education, technicians are instructed, tested, and certified to competently assess and repair durable medical equipment. The program focuses on providing prompt and reliable service to customers. MED Certified Repair Centers set unprecedented standards in the medical equipment industry for professionalism, technical competence, and customer service. Levels of Certification:

Bronze: Technicians are certified to perform manual wheelchair repairs and to provide accurate estimates on repair costs. Training includes: Customer Service I, Driver Technician Training, Introduction to Medical Industry, Manual Wheelchair Repairs, Wheelchair Batteries, Soldering, and Using Multimeters.

Silver: Technicians are certified to perform power wheelchair repairs. They are knowledgeable of applicable electronics theories and capable of troubleshooting major manufacturers' products. Training includes: Customer Service II, Electronics Review, Batteries, Power Wheelchair Basics, Power Wheelchair Troubleshooting, Power Wheelchair Repair, Technical Training Seminar, and additional manufacturers' seminars covering Seating & Positioning, Custom Chair Modification, Specialty Controls, and Environmental Control Units.

Gold: Technicians have a good understanding of the different troubleshooting techniques needed for both manual and power wheelchairs. This highest level of certification including training on: Career Development Program or Assistive Technology Training Program.
