Karen (Missy) Barnes- Ball, PT Missy is the former Assistant Director of the Physical Therapy Department at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and now serves as Seating Clinic Consultant and Education Specialist for Freedom Designs. For five years, she has also specialized in pediatrics in her private practice, PhysioBall Therapy LLC.

Ms. Ball was listed in the International Who’s Who in 2000-2001 and received the Medical Technology Student Bowl award in 1977 for State, Regional and National levels. She is a member of the Association of Clinical Pathologists (MT ASCP), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Neurodevelopmental Treatment Association (NDT). In addition to her professional work experience, Missy also gives back to the community in numerous volunteer capacities.

Missy’s 20 plus years experience in patient care as well as her research, publications, and professional associations validate her qualifications to instruct in the areas of seating and mobility. She is an accomplished and respected speaker who has lectured all across the country as well as around the world.

Seminar Abstract:

The evaluation process from a more dynamic perspective using Neurodevelopmental Treatment & Sensory Integration will be the primary focus for this seminar. Skeletal abnormalities and seating options to address them will also be addressed. Wheelchair parts, parameters, orientation in space options and ergonomic set up will be presented with regard to proper use and their impact on the user.
